Windows Live Essentials 2009 was a suite of applications that tied into Microsoft's now-discontinued Windows Live service. It was the second out of 4 major releases of the Windows Essentials series, and offered many productivity applications such as Photo Gallery, Movie Maker, Messenger, Mail, Writer, etc. You can still install it today, but some features no longer work due to the Windows Live service being discontinued. If you want to restore some of the Windows Live functionality, I'd recommend a reliable third-party server such as Escargot (escargot.chat).
This was a promotional video distributed to Microsoft employees, demonstrating the power of Windows 386, featuring a rap song set to the beat of a knockoff Mission Impossible theme. It's just as bad as you'd think it is.
This video demonstrates a predecessor to Windows Live that would have been more heavily integrated into Windows. This concept shows many interesting things such as a highly customizable profile page akin to MySpace, suggesting that Windows Live was going to be a lot more than what ended up releasing.
